  2. Would it be the tax payers that are eating this one? I understand that they want to slam a bunch of money, our money, into the economy to try to slow job losses etc.. but I don't see this as a fix, more of a stop gap.

  7. what I'm railing against Jim is the demonizing of corporations and those who produce energy that is proven

  9. BUT what I do know is that Big Oil Killed the Honda EV1 . The reason is speculated that The mechanics only had to check and repair corroded battery leeds, connections and change the wiper blades. NOT a lot of money there ! So faced with the prospect of huge loss to the Automobile industry and its peripheal sub markets and suppliers the ev1 had to go . Am I right ? I hope so cause if it is the truth then even I have a chance at making alternate plans. But if False ?

  10. In other words Jim the same companies who provide valuable jobs and services...it's now a sin to make money or the governments definiton of too much money

that's why I mentioned in the earlier post that Wall Street is going to make government scale

it's the beginning of the end of free enterprise, free markets and the beginning of the nationalization of our economy

  11. I thought the government difinitions only applied to those who recieved the bailout money. Not to any other companies who were ok and worked out alright without bailout assistance. ? Those companies can still recruit new leadership and pay these leaders golden parachutes if they wanted to. but now we see that this was/is/always has been rediculous approaches to new hires.

  12. I'm confused. Are you guys pro continued oil use or not?

  13. ? huh, what is energy ! redefine please ?

    Comment by jim— 2009/02/07 @ 02:00 PM — (Reply)

  14. Ed, I'm all for finding and discovering new energy sources and drilling for our own oil. What I'm not for is the demonization of the companies who have provided the energy we've been using.

I realize he's capping salaries on certain companies who have taken the bailout money. The angst I feel is that the bailout money should not have been provided in the first place. The government should now be involved this deeply in the private business sector...so deep that it now sets salaries. It seems to me only a matter of time till the government then sets it for say the automobile industry etc.

  15. oops 'should not be involved'

  16. In other words I'm against using economic hardship as an excuse for Big Government power grabs of the free market.

Comment by Elmers Brother— 2009/02/07 @ 05:50 PM — (Reply)

  17. The gov't shouldn't be demonizing any part of the free market. If the consumers don't want it, it will die out. The gov't shouldn't be influencing us like this. That's not their job. I can't believe what I'm seeing this administration do, right before my eyes.

    Great post. Very thought provoking!
