NO doubt this will be spun as a consequence of the economic downturn...and in part that may be so. My gut tells me those serving and about to serve still understand the seriousness of the enemy we fight.

From the DOD:

October Monthly.  All services met or exceeded recruiting goals for October.

          - Army: 5,324 accessions with a goal of 5,275, for 101 percent
          - Navy: 2,930 accessions with a goal of 2,930, for 100 percent
          - Marine Corps: 2,983 accessions with a goal of 2,875, for 104 percent
          - Air Force: 3,336 accessions with a goal of 3,336, for 100 percent
  •  Active Duty Retention. All four active components are off to an excellent start, exceeding October retention goals.
 ·         Reserve Forces Recruiting.

·         October Monthly. All six reserve components met or exceeded their accession
goals for the month of October 2008.
           - Army National Guard: 6,487 accessions with a goal of 5,600, 116 percent
           - Army Reserve: 3,049 accessions with a goal of 2,770, 110 percent
           - Navy Reserve: 664 accessions with a goal of 664, 100 percent
          - Marine Corps Reserve: 968 accessions with a goal of 640, 151 percent
          - Air National Guard: 913 accessions with a goal of 758, 120 percent
          - Air Force Reserve: 856 accessions with a goal of 856, 100 percent

·         Reserve Attrition. Losses in all reserve components are within acceptable
          limits.

  6. Good news...because I'm hearing a few women with army husbands who're about to retire and who were thinking of going on for a couple more years but are getting out now because of THE ONE..they can't bring themselves to fight under him.
I was worried about that plus the fact that most kids wouldn't want to fight under obama. Who'd be left? But, I think they know we have a bad enemy who needs taming and there still are some patriotic kids in America. I think.
    Maybe it's the economy...but I don't think it's a big part of it.....I think

  10. If you have been watching news DUGG, THAT is the plan.

    Comment by Ed— 2008/12/11 @ 02:39 PM — (Reply)

  11. Yeah, just watched how oBOMBa wants to send more troops to Afghanistan.

    Comment by Dugg— 2008/12/11 @ 05:43 PM — (Reply)

  12. Now you are beginning to understand Dugg. The war in Iraq is actually being WON. Next the war in Afghanistan will be won. Some of the troops from Iraq will come home, some will go to Afghanistan. Result. Net reduction in troops and the second war on the way to being won. EB, can you please review this and correct anything I may have mistaken?

    Comment by Ed— 2008/12/12 @ 02:09 AM — (Reply)

  13. I'll review it for you - NO winners in war, Ed - except the fat warpigs who make millions.
Do you sleep safer at night due to the war? It's all a sham being fought over lies.

    Comment by Dugg— 2008/12/12 @ 02:15 AM — (Reply)

  14. Let me review it for you Dugg. There are terrorists whose sole goal is to kill you, your wife and kids, my family and everyone like US. IF you have been following the news, several of them just PLEADED GUILTY.

  20. There is not a single fact contained in the link or on their website to support what you just claimed. Once again you're in neverneverland.

    Comment by Ed— 2008/12/12 @ 02:36 AM — (Reply)

  21. That link wasn't about that topic. Just something else to consider. Ed - just look up where the supposed 911 hijackers trained. Look up who funded Bin Laden. Look up Biden linked $100,000 to 911 terrorist. Go ahead.

  25. Starve a troll, feed genuine debate.

Anyway, so much for the theory that "the troops just want to go home" fed to us constantly by the left.
