On the Turntable - Skillet
Well I started taking guitar lessons. It's really helped invigorate my love for playing music and helped me to get past a playing slump. Musicians tend to reach peaks in their playing with valleys in between. For me sometimes those valleys have led to so much frustration. You feel like your playing the same old things, you can't seem to find fresh and new things that find the right balance between stretching your playing skills (and hence making you better) and enjoying what you are playing.
I've asked the teacher to teach me how to improvise.
If I could play music for a living I would. Until then I'll study and play and study and play. My son is also continuing his playing. I was trying to teach him but I feared he he was losing interest because I'm NOT a good guitar teacher. So we trot off to the local music store every Wednesday. Funny thing is his teacher is showing him the exact same things I was. Skillet is one of my son's favorite bands. I've learned to enjoy them also, if nothing else then for the power chords and the Christian lyrics.
Enjoy some Skillet. One of the things I like about this band is that there are two women who play in it.
I lie here paralytic inside this soul
Screaming for you till my throat is numb
I wanna break out
I need a way out
I don't believe that it's gotta be this way
The worst is the waiting
In this Womb I'm suffocating
Feel your presence filling up my lungs with oxygen
I take you in
I've died
Rebirthing now
I wanna live for love, wanna live for you and me
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
Rebirthing now
I wanna live my life, wanna give you everything
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
Right now
Right now
I lie here lifeless in this cocoon
Shedding my skin cause I'm ready to
I wanna break out
I found a way out
I don't believe that it's gotta be this way
The worst is the waiting
In this Womb I'm suffocating
Pre-Chorus
Feel your presence filling up my lungs with oxygen
I take you in
I've died
Rebirthing now
I wanna live for love, wanna live for you and me
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
Rebirthing now
I wanna live my life, wanna give you everything
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
(I come alive somehow)
Tell me when I'm gonna live again
Tell me when I'm gonna breathe you in
Tell me when I'm gonna feel inside
Tell me when I'm gonna feel alive
Tell me when I'm gonna live again
Tell me when this fear will end
Tell me when I'm gonna feel inside
Tell me when I'll feel alive
Rebirthing now
I wanna live for love, wanna live for you and me
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
Rebirthing now
I wanna live my life, wanna give you everything
Breathe for the first time now I come alive somehow
(I come alive somehow)
Right now (I come alive somehow)
Right now (I come alive somehow)

You'll do great with your music, I'm sure!
Our oldest daughter started guitar lessons a couple of months ago. She's loving it.

Alice really likes Skillet, too. ;-)
I wish I could start playing again... but then, I never was very good. But stay with it... nothing soothes the soul like music.
