  3. The movie is about the Battle of Thermopylae. There the 300 Spartans and a number of free Greeks killed nearly 10,000 Persians, led by Xerxes and held off 250,000 Persians before Leonidas their king and all of the Spartans fell. They were betrayed by Ephialtes who showed the Persians a way to attack the Spartans from behind. They lost the battle but went on to defeat the Persians at the Battle of Salamis. Xerxes retreated leaving Mardonius in charge of the captured Greek territory. At the Battle of Plataea there were 10,000 Spartans. (I'm thinking this is what this video depicts) and defeated the Persians.

It's quite a story the Battle of Thermopylae. The reason I chose it was because it has become a symbol of courage against overwhelming odds.

  8. I reviewed this flick on my movie blog. Weird how you can relate this story with our current situation with the War on Terror!

I hope you and your family have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

  9. It was a rather good movie, and an excellent pick for the message. Courage like that won our Nation her Independence.
