On the Turntable - The Call
One of the most overlooked bands - The Call is one of my favorites. This video isn't very good. The lead singer Micheal Been is a Christian and often does concerts at venues such as Cornerstone in Illinois. Here's my favorite lyric from this song:
A million eyes were watching
from the world above my head
and I swear they saw right through me
the life that I have led
the stranger enters quietly
Braves the heat and cold
Through a deep dark haunted passageway
That leads into the soul
Let no one be mistaken
Death makes memories of us all
It's the purpose that confounds me
I should have never allowed myself to feel this way

One of my favorite '70's and '80's bands use to play Cornerstone every year -- The Resurrection Band (Rez Band). Have you ever run across them?

I've been a fan of Rez since my early teens. I have never subscribed to the magazine but I have read it a time or two. Rez was a great example of using your talents to help out others and not just to make yourself a ton of cash. I've got a funny story for you. Back in about 1991 I found out during the day on Friday that Rez was going to be playing a gig over in The City (Manhattan) that night. I talked my parents into taking a friend and myself into The City from Staten Island, where I lived, to see the concert. When we got there the concert was in basically a gutted out apartment building. It was on the third floor. We had to wait in line to ride the elevator up 4 at a time to get up to the concert. They wouldn't let us use the stairs. All of that was because on the second floor was a methodone clinic and they were afraid that WE would BE TOO LOUD walking up the stairs!!! Little did they know what was about to go down on the third floor. At one point they had to stop playing because the floor was shaking so much that the light trees were about to fall!!!

I've been a fan of the Call since I first heard "walls Came Down", and had the pleasure of seeing them live. They opened for Peter Gabriel in San Diego. ('84?) Been is an intense performer. Turn a Blind Eye was especially bone chilling. I Still Believe is my personal favorite. Been's solo work is also well worth you time.

I saw the Alarm tour their first EP, opening for the Pretenders. They played amplified acoustic guitars. The Stand was a hit on new wave stations at the time.
I saw U2 twice. We used to catch at least 2-3 shows a month back in those days

Can't say I have. I'm not familiar with Taff, but I'm always looking for new music. For the Alarm, I only have the EP and the first two albums, good stuff though. Another cool 80's Christo-rocker is Mike Scott of the Waterboys.
ps I know you asked me to email, but I don't your email address.
