For Z
This one is more Z's speed.
It is quite a simple story from the vantage of two motherless children who play around and are intrigued by an unknown fearful character in their neighbourhood reputed to be mad, and the events surrounding Gregory Peck, their father defending a black worker unjustly accused of raping a woman - during the 1930s when segregation was the norm in the south.
Peck's character is a lawyer defending a case which in all probability he will lose.
The music and overall atmosphere of the film describing quiet southern town life evokes a bygone age of innocence, friendliness and charm - along with the grosser aspects of intolerance at the time.
This film got several oscars including best actor for Gregory Peck.

Thanks, Elbro. Just that little clip is totally riveting, isn't it? I think it's my very favorite, number one favorite, film........I have 100 number two favorite films, but this is NUMERO UNO! At one point, could be after this very scene, Gregory Peck (What an ACTOR..a total lib, but even I can forgive HIM...ALMOST) walks out of the courtroom and his kids are in the gallery upstairs with the Black spectators and one old Black man tells the children "Stand up, children, that's your DADDY walking by" Gives me chills every time......Respect and dignity and honor are so missing today, aren't they? I loved this and I thank you for the honor. z

required reading for one of my children...when they'd had
