One of the myths regarding the Catholic Church that continues to be perpetuated is the myth that Pope Pius the 12th was in league with the Nazis during WW2. I found this short U tube that may help dispel the myth by presenting some facts, particularly weighty, because they are from Jews who lived during WW2.
The Vatican signed a Concordat with the Reich on July 20, 1933 in an attempt to protect the Church's rights in Germany. But the Nazis quickly violated its articles. In Lent 1937 Pope Pius XI issued the encyclical "Mit brennender Sorge" (With burning sorrow) with the help of German bishops and Cardinal Pacelli (later Pope Pius XII). It was smuggled into Germany and read in all German Catholic churches at the same hour on Palm Sunday 1937. It did not explicitly mention Hitler or Nazism, but it firmly condemned the Nazi doctrines. On September 20, 1938, Pius XI told German pilgrims that no Christian can take part in anti-Semitism, since spiritually all Christians are Semites.
Pope Pius XII was a diplomat and not a radical preacher. He knew that he first needed to preserve Vatican neutrality so that Vatican City could be a refuge for war victims. The International Red Cross also remained neutral. Secondly, he knew how powerless he was against Hitler. Mussolini could quickly shut off electrical power to Vatican Radio during his broadcast (Lapide, p. 256). Finally the Nazis did not tolerate any protest and responded severely. As an example, the Catholic Archbishop of Utrecht in July 1942 protested in a pastoral letter against the Jewish persecutions in Holland. Immediately the Nazis rounded up as many Jews and Catholic non-Aryans as possible and deported them to death camps, including Blessed Edith Stein (Lapide, p. 246). Pius knew that every time he spoke out against Hitler, the Nazis could retaliate against the prisoners. His best attack against the Nazis was quiet diplomacy and behind-the-scenes action. According to The 1996 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia (V8.01) under Pius XII, "Wishing to preserve Vatican neutrality, fearing reprisals, and realizing his impotence to stop the Holocaust, Pius nonetheless acted on an individual basis to save many Jews and others with church ransoms, documents, and asylum."
The charity and work of Pope Pius XII during World War II so impressed the Chief Rabbi of Rome, Israel Zolli, that in 1944 he was open to the grace of God which led him into the Catholic faith. As his baptismal name, he took the same one Pius had, Eugenio, as his own. Later Israel Eugenio Zolli wrote a book entitled, Why I Became a Catholic.
But Pope Pius XII was not completely silent either, especially in his Christmas messages. His 1941 and 1942 Christmas messages were both translated and published in The New York Times (Dec. 25, 1941, p. 20 & Dec. 25, 1942, p. 10). To prevent retaliation, he did not refer to Nazism by name, but people of that era still understood him, including the Nazis. According to The New York Times editorial on December 25, 1941 (Late Day edition, p. 24):

Eugenio Pacelli was elected pope in 1939, took the name of Pius XII, and reigned for almost 20 years until his death in 1958. As the Vicar of Christ on earth and the successor of St. Peter, a Pope's principal job is to evangelize the world. God so loved the world that he sent his Only Begotten Son to save it from its sins: That is the good news the Church was formed to spread. The Holy Father is primarily a spiritual leader, but just as God became incarnate in Jesus, the Church is in the world, though not of it. Thus it is no small matter that the papacy of Pius XII took place during World War II and continued into the Cold War that grew up between the awkward Allies who had defeated Hitler and the Axis powers.
It is a simple fact that no political or religious leader emerged from World War II with a nobler and more heroic record than Pius XII. Vatican City is located in a country which had a fascist dictator, Mussolini, who eventually allied himself with Hitler. Mussolini's regime may have looked less menacing than Hitler's but it was totalitarian. When Mussolini was forced to resign in 1943, German troops rushed in to fill the vacuum, occupying Rome and surrounding the Vatican. These were the hostile circumstances in which Pius XII reigned until the liberation of Rome by Allied forces in 1944. Bombs actually dropped on Vatican City; whether they were German or American bombs was never clear.
The moral problems posed by an unlimited war, predicated on the unconditional surrender of Hitler, were huge--the bombing of cities, the blurring of any distinction between combatant and civilian, the violation of the most elementary precepts of natural law. Added to this were the dreadful racial policies of the Third Reich. Hitler was a satanic figure motivated by seething resentment of Germany's defeat in World War I, a dream of an Aryan people occupying the land mass of Europe for a thousand years. Standing athwart this goal--apart from the military might of the Allies--were two things: Christianity and the Jewish people.
Hitler declared war on the Church from the beginning.
He vowed to rid first Germany and then Europe of "inferior races," most notably the Jews.
The measures taken against German Jews prior to the outbreak of hostilities were a matter of public knowledge. The brain drain of Jewish intellectuals from Nazi Germany and Austria enriched the universities of Britain and the United States. The occupation of Austria and Czechoslovakia was supinely agreed to, but the invasion of Poland brought a declaration of war on Germany by Britain and, more reluctantly, France. World War II was on.
Nazi activities in occupied territories were more difficult to monitor than they had been in peacetime Germany. But the network of papal diplomats, and the presence of the Church throughout Europe, brought the incredible news to the Pope, and he both condemned what he characterized as the extermination of peoples and announced it to the world. Again and again and again.
The identification and condemnation of Nazi atrocities continued throughout the war. It was accompanied by efforts to protect the innocent victims of a diabolical regime. The Catholic Church, under the leadership of Pius XII, is credited with saving nearly a million Jews from certain death during the war. This is an achievement not even approached by other heroic efforts. It was gratefully acknowledged during and after the war by Jewish leaders who knew what the Pope had done.
Saving nearly 1 million Jews, glorious as this was, was only one of Pius XII's personal and pontifical achievements. Nonetheless, after his death, grumbling in the Church about his defense of the deposit of the faith against Modernist tendencies became more audible, and with the call for the Second Vatican Council, the pre-conciliar Church became the bete noire of liberal and progressive Catholics. It has been suggested that this was one of the disposing conditions for the success of an amazing assault on Pius XII that was launched in 1963.
The turning point was the play "The Deputy", by Rolf Hochhuth. In it, Pius XII is portrayed as the dark opposite of his historical self. Hochhuth's Pius XII is silent about the treatment of Jews, connives in their deportation from Rome and Italy, and might as well be the Nazi Hochhuth himself once was--Nazi youth at any rate. The play flies in the face of historical facts and represents a slanderous attack on a holy and heroic figure. Hochhuth wrote a similarly slanderous play about Winston Churchill, which received the treatment it deserved. But his defamation of Pius XII has passed from the realm of sick fantasy into that of received opinion. The latest contribution to the sorry genre inaugurated by Hochhuth is John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope."
For more than three decades, historians have patiently shown that such portrayals of Pius XII are devoid of any historical basis. All the Vatican documents covering the period are now available in 12 volumes, but far from putting the matter to rest, there is a continuing buzz that the Vatican is hiding something and is engaged in an effort to save Pius XII from the truth about his papacy.
Pius XII was a good and holy man. He was a heroic defender and protector of Jews during World War II. The evidence for this truth is massive, the testimonies are many, the facts are unchangeable. All efforts to show the opposite have been conclusively refuted. The question is not whether Pius XII acted heroically during World War II and was instrumental in saving hundreds of thousands of Jews from Nazi extermination. The question is not whether libels and slanders against this good and holy man can be refuted. The overwhelming question that has to be addressed is this: Why is this good man being defamed? Who are those who devote themselves to besmirching the reputation of Pius XII? What are they really after? What is their fundamental objective?
The Didache taught that there are two paths, one of light, the other of darkness. John Paul II has spoken of a culture of death and a culture of life. During World War II, Pius XII courageously walked the path of life. The Nazis he condemned are no more. Their totalitarian twins, the Communists, have withered away. But the culture of death is still among us, stronger than before. Those who opposed Hitler now occupy countries which have espoused under other names his genetic atrocities. The moral relativism and nihilism of the West has permitted the culture of death to flourish, and it recognizes its main enemy. That enemy is the Catholic Church. Pius XII is merely a target of opportunity. The aim of his detractors is to destroy the natural law, which, as Pius emphasized from the beginning of the war, was violated by the Nazi racist policies. The culture of death is an equally systematical assault on the natural law of which the Catholic Church is the chief custodian. Hence the libel and defamation of the Church.

First of all, no one knows the true birthday of Jesus Christ. That information is not recorded in The Bible.
As you said Jesus is an historical person whose life is recorded by histroians outside of hte Bible...Josephus, Tacitus....etc.
As far as virgin birth etc. All foretold hundreds of years before he lived in the Old Testament.

The inquisition was the most horrible engine of cruelty and power the world has ever seen. The roman catolic institution from 1200 ad on had produced a total of 68 million victims.
The holy office which ran the Inquisition was run by zhe "dominican monks. But the misterminds behind them were the Jesuits.
Th hly office was a thing of terror whereever it reached...no one was safe.

I'd appreciate those rights back. And, if listening in on phone calls can help the Feds track a terrorist who'll kill Elmer, me, or our families, I'm for letting them listen to us all too. One of the myths regarding the Catholic Church that continues to be perpetuated is the myth that Pope Pius the 12th was in league with the Nazis during WW2. Pope Pius XII was a diplomat and not a radical preacher. He knew that he first needed to preserve Vatican neutrality so that Vatican City could be a refuge for war victims. The International Red Cross also remained neutral. Secondly, he knew how powerless he was against Hitler. Mussolini could quickly shut off electrical power to Vatican Radio during his broadcast (Lapide, p. 256). Finally the Nazis did not tolerate any protest and responded severely. As an example, the Catholic Archbishop of Utrecht in July 1942 protested in a pastoral letter against the Jewish persecutions in Holland. Immediately the Nazis rounded up as many Jews and Catholic non-Aryans as possible and deported them to death camps, including Blessed Edith Stein (Lapide, p. 246). Pius knew that every time he spoke out against Hitler, the Nazis could retaliate against the prisoners. His best attack against the Nazis was quiet diplomacy and behind-the-scenes action. According to The 1996 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia (V8.01) under Pius XII, "Wishing to preserve Vatican neutrality, fearing reprisals, and realizing his impotence to stop the Holocaust, Pius nonetheless acted on an individual basis to save many Jews and others with church ransoms, documents, and asylum."
The charity and work of Pope Pius XII during World War II so impressed the Chief Rabbi of Rome, Israel Zolli, that in 1944 he was open to the grace of God which led him into the Catholic faith. As his baptismal name, he took the same one Pius had, Eugenio, as his own. Later Israel Eugenio Zolli wrote a book entitled, Why I Became a Catholic.
But Pope Pius XII was not completely silent either, especially in his Christmas messages. His 1941 and 1942 Christmas messages were both translated and published in The New York Times (Dec. 25, 1941, p. 20 & Dec. 25, 1942, p. 10). To prevent retaliation, he did not refer to Nazism by name, but people of that era still understood him, including the Nazis. According to The New York Times editorial on December 25, 1941 (Late Day edition, p. 24):

Eugenio Pacelli was elected pope in 1939, took the name of Pius XII, and reigned for almost 20 years until his death in 1958. As the Vicar of Christ on earth and the successor of St. Peter, a Pope's principal job is to evangelize the world. God so loved the world that he sent his Only Begotten Son to save it from its sins: That is the good news the Church was formed to spread. The Holy Father is primarily a spiritual leader, but just as God became incarnate in Jesus, the Church is in the world, though not of it. Thus it is no small matter that the papacy of Pius XII took place during World War II and continued into the Cold War that grew up between the awkward Allies who had defeated Hitler and the Axis powers.
It is a simple fact that no political or religious leader emerged from World War II with a nobler and more heroic record than Pius XII. Vatican City is located in a country which had a fascist dictator, Mussolini, who eventually allied himself with Hitler. Mussolini's regime may have looked less menacing than Hitler's but it was totalitarian. When Mussolini was forced to resign in 1943, German troops rushed in to fill the vacuum, occupying Rome and surrounding the Vatican. These were the hostile circumstances in which Pius XII reigned until the liberation of Rome by Allied forces in 1944. Bombs actually dropped on Vatican City; whether they were German or American bombs was never clear.
The moral problems posed by an unlimited war, predicated on the unconditional surrender of Hitler, were huge--the bombing of cities, the blurring of any distinction between combatant and civilian, the violation of the most elementary precepts of natural law. Added to this were the dreadful racial policies of the Third Reich. Hitler was a satanic figure motivated by seething resentment of Germany's defeat in World War I, a dream of an Aryan people occupying the land mass of Europe for a thousand years. Standing athwart this goal--apart from the military might of the Allies--were two things: Christianity and the Jewish people.
Hitler declared war on the Church from the beginning.
He vowed to rid first Germany and then Europe of "inferior races," most notably the Jews.
The measures taken against German Jews prior to the outbreak of hostilities were a matter of public knowledge. The brain drain of Jewish intellectuals from Nazi Germany and Austria enriched the universities of Britain and the United States. The occupation of Austria and Czechoslovakia was supinely agreed to, but the invasion of Poland brought a declaration of war on Germany by Britain and, more reluctantly, France. World War II was on.
Nazi activities in occupied territories were more difficult to monitor than they had been in peacetime Germany. But the network of papal diplomats, and the presence of the Church throughout Europe, brought the incredible news to the Pope, and he both condemned what he characterized as the extermination of peoples and announced it to the world. Again and again and again.
The identification and condemnation of Nazi atrocities continued throughout the war. It was accompanied by efforts to protect the innocent victims of a diabolical regime. The Catholic Church, under the leadership of Pius XII, is credited with saving nearly a million Jews from certain death during the war. This is an achievement not even approached by other heroic efforts. It was gratefully acknowledged during and after the war by Jewish leaders who knew what the Pope had done.
Saving nearly 1 million Jews, glorious as this was, was only one of Pius XII's personal and pontifical achievements. Nonetheless, after his death, grumbling in the Church about his defense of the deposit of the faith against Modernist tendencies became more audible, and with the call for the Second Vatican Council, the pre-conciliar Church became the bete noire of liberal and progressive Catholics. It has been suggested that this was one of the disposing conditions for the success of an amazing assault on Pius XII that was launched in 1963.
The turning point was the play "The Deputy", by Rolf Hochhuth. In it, Pius XII is portrayed as the dark opposite of his historical self. Hochhuth's Pius XII is silent about the treatment of Jews, connives in their deportation from Rome and Italy, and might as well be the Nazi Hochhuth himself once was--Nazi youth at any rate. The play flies in the face of historical facts and represents a slanderous attack on a holy and heroic figure. Hochhuth wrote a similarly slanderous play about Winston Churchill, which received the treatment it deserved. But his defamation of Pius XII has passed from the realm of sick fantasy into that of received opinion. The latest contribution to the sorry genre inaugurated by Hochhuth is John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope."
For more than three decades, historians have patiently shown that such portrayals of Pius XII are devoid of any historical basis. All the Vatican documents covering the period are now available in 12 volumes, but far from putting the matter to rest, there is a continuing buzz that the Vatican is hiding something and is engaged in an effort to save Pius XII from the truth about his papacy.
Pius XII was a good and holy man. He was a heroic defender and protector of Jews during World War II. The evidence for this truth is massive, the testimonies are many, the facts are unchangeable. All efforts to show the opposite have been conclusively refuted. The question is not whether Pius XII acted heroically during World War II and was instrumental in saving hundreds of thousands of Jews from Nazi extermination. The question is not whether libels and slanders against this good and holy man can be refuted. The overwhelming question that has to be addressed is this: Why is this good man being defamed? Who are those who devote themselves to besmirching the reputation of Pius XII? What are they really after? What is their fundamental objective?
The Didache taught that there are two paths, one of light, the other of darkness. John Paul II has spoken of a culture of death and a culture of life. During World War II, Pius XII courageously walked the path of life. The Nazis he condemned are no more. Their totalitarian twins, the Communists, have withered away. But the culture of death is still among us, stronger than before. Those who opposed Hitler now occupy countries which have espoused under other names his genetic atrocities. The moral relativism and nihilism of the West has permitted the culture of death to flourish, and it recognizes its main enemy. That enemy is the Catholic Church. Pius XII is merely a target of opportunity. The aim of his detractors is to destroy the natural law, which, as Pius emphasized from the beginning of the war, was violated by the Nazi racist policies. The culture of death is an equally systematical assault on the natural law of which the Catholic Church is the chief custodian. Hence the libel and defamation of the Church.

Here's an answer to your supposed pagan origins of Christianity.
First of all, no one knows the true birthday of Jesus Christ. That information is not recorded in The Bible.
As you said Jesus is an historical person whose life is recorded by histroians outside of hte Bible...Josephus, Tacitus....etc.
As far as virgin birth etc. All foretold hundreds of years before he lived in the Old Testament.
Almost all scholars agree that this date was adopted
centuries later. To be more specific, Joseph Campbell notes that the date was adopted in 354 AD. Thus, the adoption of this date says NOTHING about the influences of Mithraism on the formation of the Gospel accounts.
Mithra was "born" by emerging from a rock with a dagger in one hand, a torch in the other hand, Phrygian cap on his head not of a "virgin."
"Mithra...was born beside a sacred stream beneath a sacred tree.
In works of art he is shown emerging as a naked child from the "Generative Rock," wearing his Phrygian cap, bearing a torch, and armed with a knife.....The earth has given birth - a virgin birth- to the archetypal Man."
No Christian borrowing from this myth about Mithra. In fact, one could say the true myth is the belief that Christians borrowed from Mithraism to write the nativity accounts.
Mithra was a pagan deity who was not born of a virgin (BTW, neither was he a dying and rising god). Yet this claim is often made by those critical of Christianity. When you hear such claims, be sure to ask for the source of the claim. Don't be satisfied with a popularistic
source. Ask for the original myth. If it is not offered, ask for the sources behind the popularistic source and check them out. Experience has taught me that, most of the time, the claim can be shown to be nothing more than someone's subjective interpretation.

None of the figures that he names died through crucifixion. Some of them became associated with the cross through pagan borrowing after the time of Christ, but in the pure mythical content of their stories none of them were crucified.
6) "They were Resurrected from the dead" this claim is true of some but not all, and even of those not in the manner of Christ.
None of them were seen by real flesh and blood eye witnesses after their deaths. In stories of Dionysos he does come back to life, but only in a mythology and only in relation to dying rising of nature cycles. see below. And not all of them came back to life.

The holy office which ran the Inquisition was run by zhe "dominican monks. But the misterminds behind them were the Jesuits.
