Four years ago this week my friends and I were mounting up and flying into the ports of Um Qasr and Az Zubayr. The time has flown by. Some of those friends are back in Iraq on follow on tours with Navy EOD, Army scouts and Army Chaplains.

  3. You have to admire those who are going back for their second or even third tour of duty.
It's what makes me so angry at those who claim to be "conscientious objectors" after they've served during times of peace. Now when it's their turn to go, all of a sudden, they have this sudden realization of their true nature.

  5. Thanks for your service EB.

All the best to those still over there. Lets bring them home as soon as we can, without Al Qaeda chasing at their heels and making sure that the Iraqi people secure as well.

I'm sorry thats not a simple minded slogan. None will do.

  6. I could swear I left a comment here the other day. Hope your friends are all well, and that those still deployed return home safely.

How's the new job working out, elbro? Any regrets about getting out? I try not to look back too much myself. Settling down's the best thing that could have happened to me.

  7. you did leave a comment fj but bloghi locked up and I had to delete it sorry.

I wish I could have statyed in but it was time to retire. I had reached HYT and my family was ready to get out.

The new job is fine...can you say mindless workers are happy workers?

Thanks all for the gratitude but I don't want you to think I was fishing for it. I was simply reflecting. Someday I will post pics of my very brief trip to Iraq.
