Who Wants Another Vietnam?
from Opinion Journal
- "Last year, some believed that cutting back our military assistance to the South Vietnamese Government would induce negotiations for a political settlement. Instead, the opposite has happened. North Vietnam is refusing negotiations and is increasing its military pressure."--Gerald Ford, "Special Message to the Congress Requesting Supplemental Assistance for the Republic of Vietnam and Cambodia," Jan. 28, 1975
- "I want to make it very clear that we need to threaten the Iraqi government, that we're going to take money away from their troops, not our troops who still lack body armor and armored vehicles; that we're going to send a clear message--that we are finished with their empty promises and with this president's blank check."--Hillary Clinton, speech to the Democratic National Committee, Feb. 2, 2007

We're in this to the end. Sure, more troops, but the killings of insurgents must increase as well. Bush had best stop appeasing the Iraqis, however, and needs to put a boot up their ass.

This is beginning to stink like '75.

Is she insane?!?
Yeah, those Iraqis respond well to threats, especially after years of it from Saddam. Shrillary is a coward and a bully!

There will be a huge conflict once we go into Iran (or Israel decides to). China or Russia are semi-allied to Iran and won't allow the Iranians to get overrun and occupied like Iraq. Be prepared for horrors if that happens.

It seems that from the very beginning of this war, the press and the left-wingers wanted to draw comparisons to Vietnam. Terms like quagmire and bogged down were used purposely for this purpose. Now Congress is threatening to do what was done to South Vietnam. We have come full circle. This is an object of their creation.

AC - the left is on the wrong side of history again and they are condemned to repeat it...in '75 when they pulled the rug out of the South Vietnamese gov't...it caused genocide and 1.5 million people were sent to reeducation camps.....
flo - elaborate what do you think?

Did Hillary spout those words before or after the imam's "prayer" at the Dems' winter meeting? Or did she say this at the winter meeting or at some other gathering?

HISTORY ALWAYS REPEATS ITSELF!!!!!!!!! ALWAYS!!!!!!!!! IT,S PRETTY DISHEARTENING TO SEE THE SAME SCUMBAGS (HILLARY) STILL INVOLVED THOUGH. PERSONALLY, I DON,T THINK SHE,LL GET NOMINATED. SHE,S JUST TOO DAMNED OBNOXIOUS , AND SHE HAS WAY TOO MUCH BAGGAGE. THE DHIMMICRATS WANT A SURE WINNER THIS TIME , AND SHE MAY BE TOO MUCH OF A LIABILITY.

I understand why the American Left hates victory; victory is actual superiority instead of the easy smug moral superiority that they at once pride themselves on and encourage everyone else to participate in. (You know the drill; wear the ribbon; speak on TV; march.) It promotes a clear line of "winner" and "loser"; it rewards the victor, and punishes the defeated. I am convinced that no person who loves not their country should ever be elected. How can you act in the best interests of your voters if you despise the voters as a whole that are America herself?

ELABORATION: China and Russia (especially China) get most of their petrol from Iran and they have been allied (though not officially) to Iran for sometime now. Russia even ships them military technology. Putin's sly remarks he made recently about the USA causing all of the world's trouble sounds very reminiscent of Ahmadinejackjob. Russia and China will not allow their energy supplies to be interrupted by another US invasion of an oil rich nation. That's why the stakes are so much higher with Iran--and also why the US has been so hesitant to turn the towel-head nation into a radioactive parking lot. Israel has been pushed back as well--don't worry though plans are probably already under way. We can't go back now. Some slight incident could set off a war with all the military hardware in the region.
