O'reilly the Non Factor
So I'm watching Fox News and Bill O'reilly is talking about the Murtha thing and the investigation into the case of the Marines at Haditha and the idiot says Americans have been responsible for massacres before. BUT he mentions Malmedy. A massacre the GERMANS perpetrated on American soldiers at the Battle of the Bulge. To top it off he's interviewing Retired Gen. Wesley Clark who didn't seem to have a clue. He stutters well those German soldiers were in uniform...what a bunch of marooonsss.
Sometimes I could just scream..
The delightful Belgian town of Malmédy will forever be associated with the most infamous massacre of American troops in World War II. And yet, but for the presence of an Associated Press correspondent there in early January 1945, it is doubtful that this terrible incident would have ever achieved international notoriety. "Nazis Turned Machine Guns on GI POWs" wrote Hal Boyle in his January 1945 Stars and Stripes article, and from that first graphic account sprung a plethora of books and articles about the so-called Malmédy Massacre. Few of these accounts are based on fact, and most are embellished and inaccurate.
It is unlikely that we shall ever know the precise sequence of events at the Baugnez crossroads, near Malmédy, on December 17, 1944, or the reasons for them. The secret lies with the guilty and the dead. Nevertheless, many corroborated facts are known and a careful analysis of these facts can bring us closer to the truth of what happened.

Even if it were an outright massacre - how can he possibly know why it happened? His claims that it was a result of 'war weariness' and 'combat fatigue' are designed to shore up his position that the war was a mistake. How can this guy be an ex-Marine?

Seems like neither have much of a background in history. General Weasel was thoroughly beaten in the Democratic primaries so now he has moved even further left to position himself for a run in 2008.

Apparently Murtha forgot what Semper Fi means.

Murtha: Semper fi? Is that Latin or something? It sounds sort of familiar...
