Ode to Joy
I was in church yesterday and the pastor talked about humor and laughter. Since those on the left and our enemies lack a sense of humor this summarization will make perfect sense.
Here's a quote from famous evangelist Billy Sunday:
"The trouble with many men is that they have got just enough religion to make them miserable. It there is no joy in religion, you've got a leak in your religion."
God wants us to cultivate those things that will build joy into our lives. I realize of late that some of you may not understand my warped sense of humor on this blog. Here's some things to chew on:
You've heard many times that laughter is a good medicine. This is in the Bible. Laughter reduces stress and has a positive physiological effect. Proverbs 17:22
Laughter gives us the proper view of God. Zephaniah 3:17
Laughter gives the world the proper view of Christians. Psalms 126:2-3
Laughter is the shortest distance between two people. Remain close to God and you will have joy. Joy is quite different than happiness. Happiness is circumstantial.

I don't think your sense of humor is warped. Maybe that means that my sense of humor is warped as well.
BTW, I was speaking today with a friend of mine who used to live in the Middle East. He pointed out to me that Arabs have no ability to laugh at themselves. Hmmmm...

13 month old baby girl decides to imitate jumping older brother. Her feet actually (and unintentionally) leave the floor. Her jaw drops in shock and awe, he diapered bottom hits the floor and cascades of laughter are knocked out by the sheer impact!
Laughed so hard I think I snorted...
