Blow Hards

Blogger Herman Jacobs ran the numbers: he counted the number of letters in the words uttered by each of the first seven senators and divided it by the total number of words in his exchange with Alito. Results: the biggest gasbags are Joe Biden (78.13%) and Ted Kennedy* (68.84%). Only one of the seven, Arizona Republican Jon Kyl, actually let Alito outtalk him, albeit just barely. The Kyl ratio was 49.87%.

* Mary Jo Kopechne's total was 0%.

  1. It's a wonder that gasbag Kennedy didn't light something on fire

  2. Biden spent 26 of the first 30 minutes he had bloviating, then he finally got around to asking a question. While this was going on half the Dem senators got up and left while the judge answered questions. Then get this...Ted comes back and asks the same question four other senators had already *hiccup* asked the judge.

  3. Imagine, if you will, going to a meeting at your place of employment, getting up and inexplicably leaving during the facts run-down, coming back and then repeating what already happened....You'd be fired in an instant, probably before you even walked back into the room.

    How do these guys get away with it?:???:

  5. EB,
    "Gasbag" is a good term for Teddy Kennedy. However, I prefer "His Bloatedness" and/or "The Swimmer."

    I can't stand the sight or the sound of him.

    Wouldn't you know it? He's the hero of that moonbat who visits my site--Mr. Ducky.

    Last summer, I posted a little piece on Kennedy. You might be interested.

  6. Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

    AOW, I think you are right, today's generation wouldn't know this about Teddy.

  7. Wouldn't your comments qualify for a true no spin zone EB? Bill Clinton popularized the concept that if you tell the same lie over and over again there will be some liberal dopes who believe it.

  8. I still don't get why he didn't do time for leaving Kapechne(?) to drown in his car while he started a cover up.
