My friends Amy and Burt Robinson lost their son in Iraq this week. Please pray for them.

By Kristina Davis, Tribune

October 7, 2005

A Chandler police sergeant learned his son was killed in Iraq on Thursday — the same day another East Valley Jeremiah Robinson, a Skyline High School graduate, is the third East Valley soldier to die in in the last four weeks. His father, Sgt. Floyd "Burt" Robinson, a 21- year veteran of the Chandler Police Department and a member of the Air Force Reserve, said police spokesman Sgt. Mark Franzen.

"We had officers go to his home to show our support," Franzen said. Chandler officers remember Jeremiah Robinson visiting the police department not long ago with stories and photos from Iraq.

Officers said Floyd Robinson was about to be deployed to Iraq himself.
He has already served two tours of duty, in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He voluntarily left his family to fight after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Army Spc. Jeremiah W. Robinson 20, of Mesa, Ariz.; assigned to the 860th Military Police Company, Arizona Army National Guard, Phoenix; died Oct. 6 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Oct. 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during convoy operations in Baghdad.

  4. Jeremiah was a great young man. I watched him grow from childhood to the great soldier he was. I have many fond memories of him and my sons doing good things together and know he will be with us again.. My heart is broken, but proud to know this great hero who gave his life for freedom.

  5. I went to Madison Elementary School with Jeremiah when we were both much younger and I remember him for many things, not the least of which was his gentility and enthusiasm. I would love to see what Jeremiah looked like when he was grown up. I am so sorry to hear this... my prayers are with the Robinson family.

  6. I have known Burt Robinson for approximately 28 years. I met Burt while in high school and we have always somehow seemed to keep in touch over the years. After Burt and I both left the military we were both living in the same area again and rekindled our friendship. I was able to develope a friendship with Jeremiah while he grew into a fine young man. Always quick with a smile and to offer a lending hand, Jeremiah was always there for anyone how needed him or anything. I am deepy sadened by the death of Jeremiah who touched the lives of all who knew him. May god bless the Robinson family in the time of their grief. And to Jeremiah, someday brother we will meet again and i can't wait to see that smile.

  7. Amy and Burt... I hope you know Caroline and I are with you in spirit and Jeremiah will always be with us... Even thougth we didn't spend much time with Jeremiah, I always looked up to him for his strength and courage... Not to many young men would volunteer to do what he had done... My heart and prayers go to Amy, Burt, and all the family...

  8. Dear Burt and Amy,
Please know that Dale and I have been thinking of you and praying for you. We also want you to know how grateful we are to Jeremiah and your family for the sacrifice you've made. It is because of men like Jeremiah and Burt who are willing to go and serve that we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have in America. Words could never say enough. You are all loved.

  10. Dear Burt and Amy,
Words cannot begin to express the saddness I feel for you and the rest of the family. I have some solace in having known Jeremiah as a boy as he grew up durung the period you and I were on the Chandler Police Department. I am sure he is safe in God's hands and knows that his sacrifice was for a noble cause and that he was serving his country. I am proud to have known him and what a hero he is in so many ways. I will always keep him and the entire family in my prayers.

  11. My husband was the other east valley soldier that was buried the day Jeremiah was killed. Both were in 2nd Platoon together. I am still saddened by Jeremiah's death. I proudly display the magnet that Amy gave me the day I visited with her. I will never forget him tho I never actually spoke to him. He was a "brother" to my husband... My thoughts are with Burt and Amy every day as well as with the rest of his family... Reapers Ride!

  13. Oh my God. I just cannot ever and do not ever want to forget my brother Jeremiah Robinson of 2nd Platoon Deuces Wild!
He was always there and sometimes it seems he has visited me. He was among the most noble of human beings and Americans I have ever been blessed to meet.
I love you brother, I hope some day to meet you again, it's awful lonely down here without you brother.
