Not Drowning....waving! Greetings from The Land of Oz.

@ 01:37 AM (37 months, 19 days ago)

Well, G’day to any and all who drop in to Elmer’s from time to time. I’d just like to say how honoured I feel that Ray trusts me enough to scribble on his blog while he’s away, and I’d also like to send “Warmest greetings” to Ray’s great circle of family and friends, from down here in the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit.  Or, as we like to call it, OZ!

I’ll bet you weren’t aware  that that is the first recorded “naming” of Australia on the earliest Dutch explorers maps, but it has often been pointed out that Australia, like America, has a Godly hand guiding her. I’m sure glad it's the same God, not Allah!

There’s nothing like a bit of pressure to find out who your friends are, hey?

Like America, we Australians are having the very fundamentals, the essence of our nation attacked, vilified, mocked and defiled.  Amongst all the stunning acts of hatred we’ve seen perpetrated this past year, I personally was stunned and left speechless by watching video feeds of 6 Muslim men trampling the Stars and Stripes in New York city. You know, I could not believe they walked away from that, still breathing! Little did I know that within a month, similar demonstrations of loyalty were to begin here too.

We have a lot in common!

One thing I’ve become really sure of. If America and Australia are to emerge from our present trouble intact, if we are to survive at all, we had better have a very strong understanding of the line our enemy has drawn in the sand.  Bottom line….what is the war on terror about, if not the basic beliefs of our nations? Everything you believe in is everything the Muslim hates. And, what is the alliance between our two nations if not a recognition we share the same values? This is one proud Aussie very glad to be standing with America. Good onya! This beer is for you!

Reading Ray's blog archives, I was really struck by the strong sense of family and a united love of country that emanates from every page. Americans have a very strong sense of national identity and of the values passed on that make people decent and an equally strong identification with their heritage. Most Americans probably can’t articulate what their identification with their land entails, but I have no doubt that when the core of America is attacked, all Americans “know” deep inside, exactly what is at stake. We Aussies are having to define and articulate that too, because we are most certainly going to have to defend it within our borders, and very soon. We need to know what it is we are defending.

Today has been a rough day in Australia….too much and too involved to bore you Yanks with…… but as I read the articles here, I realise you all know exactly what life in war-time is like. Maybe we in Oz are finding out too.

Heritage is something that has been on my mind so much of late. Maybe because that is what the Muslim wants to negate….and replace. America, like Australia, is steeped in Judeo-Christian culture, and in both our countries it has produced societies I believe, from the depths of my soul, are worth defending. Through some amazingly stupid, and to my mind, criminal bowing down to the Politically Correct Left, your nation and mine has woken up at the beginning of the 21st Century to find that an implacable foe has taken root in our lands, and he has already fired the first shots in the great culture wars.

Last weekend I was talking, long distance, to my Mother. She might be 79, but there has not been one incident of Muslim incursion into Australia she has missed.

She was talking about the “calm before the storm” feeling Aussies experienced after war was declared in 1939. The reading between the lines of newspaper reports, the hushed gathering around the radio to hear the reports from far away, the endless agonising over…… when will they be on our doorstep?  I never thought I would know exactly how she felt.

I'll drop by more regularly......I'm usually not so sombre, so, who knows, you might even get to understand Cricket and Rugby League, if you are really lucky!  One thing you Yanks don't have in your heritage.....International grudge matches on a regular basis. Lemme tell ya, there is NOTHING QUITE AS SATISFYING as giving the English a flogging on the sports field, EVERY 4 YEARS!!!! That'll teach them to send our forebears here in chains!!

Hey, talk about sweet justice. They sent their "convict scum" here, from cold, wet and rainy England, and now we thumb our noses at them, have another beer at the bar-b-q, and laugh...... from our golden sun-baked shores!!!!!

God Bless America.

I never thought I would understand what my grandparents went through until now. It's a pity there are some both here and in Australia who try to keep acting like nothing is wrong.

  4. LOL felis.....yeah, if they'll have me!
(Nothing serious here, folks, nothing to see, move along...)
I love Oz, as I think is clear, but in this ideological war I dunno how long I can continue the indulgence of living in "God's Own".....I want to be where this Islamic threat is being taken seriously and there are so many times these days, when the gutless, criminal and treasonous acts of our "leaders" leaves me sick to my stomach....
and anyway, I've always had "itchy feet". I've been through 5 passports since I married Ruth....she is a bloody Gypsy, I'm sure!!! We have two thoughts on the back-burner, about "where next", Israel or America. Thailand has always been at the forefront, (family)but we put a lot if time in to considering those other two.
Besides all the considerations of an ideological move, all my life I have been gob-smacked by the sheer beauty of America. I think Oz is stunning, but America's natural beauty takes my breathe away. God was having an "on day" when he created that bit of terra firma, that's for sure!
If I went to America, I wouldn't be seen for about 6 months....we'd be off in a caravan.......driving Route 66, for starters, and I'd be humming "This land is your land, this land is my land....."
I've always wanted to play in a bluegrass band too. I've been pickin for years, but no-one I know gets off on Bluegrass. I can see me sitting on the porch of a country store, playing "Under the Double Eagle"!!
And there are no gun laws!
    CONCERNED:Isaiah 51:1 (Works for me!)
ROBERT: I can live with that! Are you the guy leaning against the wall, behind Elmer? You owe me a beer.(Murphys law)
Mate, can you check out a website called "GoogleEarth"..work out where you are, and send me the co-ordinates??? I wanna see if the B-B-Q in the back-yard is up to scratch!

  7. Thanks guys....the feeling is reciprocated. I think a Bar-B-Q is called for!
Well, I don't have anything to write myself....because I have had my breath taken away by someone elses work. I just want to point any interested readers to Peter Faris Q.C(Its in Ray's "Blogroll"). Faris posted an article called "Tony Blair gets it right". The very first comment is by a guy named Michael. Read yourself rich. Here's a sample to whet your appetite.
"The question has to be asked, are Muslims the most selfish bunch of people on the planet?"
See ya soon, and God Bless America.
